the happy end

The Happy End is the story of the absurdity of office work, minus the story. It’s a situation comedy: job fair, theatre company, furniture storeroom, several questionnaires, some eggs. Athletically adapted from Mónica de la Torre’s book The Happy End/All Welcome, which is based on Martin Kippenberger’s installation, “The Happy End of Franz Kafka’s Amerika,” a novel Kafka never finished and Kippenberger never read, the show is free *if* you bring a copy of your resume.

The Management Ensemble is a band of brains atrophied by fluorescent office lighting: Beth Alianiello, Stine An, Kate Colby, Matt Derby, and Zoe Guttenplan, with direction by Darcie Dennigan. Music by Carl Dimitri. Performed August 2018 at Providence Fringe Fest and April 2019 at Wilbury Theatre’s New Works. Received the 2019 Anna Rabinowitz Award from the Poetry Society of America.
